Professor Lai received an IEEE Third Millennium Medal; the IEEE Power and Energy Society (IEEE/PES) UKRI Power Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award in 2000; a special award from City St George's in 2005 and is its honorary graduate; the IEEE/PES Energy Development and Power Generation Committee Prize Paper in 2006 and 2009; the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (IEEE/SMCS) Outstanding Contribution Award in 2013 and 2014, the Most Active Technical Committee Award in 2015 and 2024; IEEE Standards Association Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding contributions in standards development in 2020 and 2024; a member of the IEEE Smart Cities Board of Governor; Member-at-large, IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) Committee on Standards (TCOS) & its Representative to the TAB Committee on Technical Community Outreach, Engagement and Society Membership (TCOES); Chair of IEEE/SMCS Standards Committee; IEEE/SMCS Fellow Committee Evaluator; IEEE/SMCS Distinguished Lecturer and IEEE/PES Lifetime Achievement Award Committee Assessor. His current interests are in smart cities, smart grid and computational intelligence. He is an IEEE Life Fellow and IET Fellow. |

Dr Wong Shen Yuong is an accomplished researcher dedicated to advancing frontier technologies and driving digital innovation to support sustainable cities, renewable energy, and global development. Through her leadership in multidisciplinary projects, she has contributed to strategies that integrate smart and autonomous systems with clean energy solutions to address pressing urban and environmental challenges, enhance energy efficiency, promote green hydrogen production, and foster resilient urban ecosystems. She has recently completed a research attachment at Tsinghua University China. She is a Professional Engineer (PEng) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, an ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), an IEEE Senior Member, a Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM), and a Professional Technologist (MBOT). She is also an Accreditation Panel of Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) & Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC). Besides, she serves as an Editorial Board Member for several top-ranking international journals. |
